Whatever you choose to call it – Persistency is a personality trait that drives some people to the point of achieving their mission. No matter what, in spite of fatigue or frustration – it’s full motion forward.
Brainless, Deficient, Dense, Foolish, Half-witted, Idiotic, Ill-advised, Ludicrous, Meaningless, Mindless, Naive, Nonsensical, Obtuse, Out to lunch, Pointless, Senseless, Shortsighted, Simpleminded, Sluggish, Thick-headed, Witless…
Stupidity is a lack of intelligence, understanding or sense. It’s a lack of commonsense in knowing when to give it up or continue the road forward.
I have a small magnetic sign I keep with me that says ‘never, never, never, give up’. I admire those men and women who, no matter what obstacles get in their way; they never, never, never, give up! But what drives them, and how do they know that they shouldn’t give up? I’ve also heard those stories where people have driven themselves right into the ground – because they’re too stubborn to admit that they’re on the losing end of a tricky proposition.
A significant part of my mission is to help people win by not settling! There is way too much average in the world today. I find that people have the ability and the smarts, they just lack the determination to drive their idea all the way to the Brink of Success! You first have to convince yourself that you can do better and make average your enemy. It’s healthy to question everything around you and then question it again – while continually driving your idea forward. It’s even okay to think you’re out of your mind, I always believe we can all use those absurd moments in our life as a point to dig down for more – that moment of time will separate you from all the others who lack the fortitude in accomplishing their dreams or fulfilling their mission. This is the moment of clarity between persistency and stupidity.
If you’re like most people, you’ve probably been at the point of persistency/stupidity once or twice in your lifetime. We see other success stories in our chosen field, but all too often question our intent and ability to stay the course. There are hundreds of reasons why you should give up, and only ONE reason why you should continue the journey forward. If it is your dream, your desire, your mission – then you must go for it. The biggest commitment you can make – is the one to yourself!
It is a very, very fine line between persistency and stupidity! You may cross that line back and forth many times on your journey. You may question the worth of the journey. But You May Never, Never, Never, Give Up!
