I want you to take a few minutes today and consider all the things you need to change in your life. Make a list, write it down, review the list and then convince yourself that you’ll get it done someday. No one ever said change was easy, but it is essential if you expect to obtain a different result. Remember those famous words from Albert Einstein “Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results.” There is great truth to those words. How can you expect anything to change in your life if you don’t make change the order of the day?
The answer is you shouldn’t expect anything to change if you’re willing to keep things as they are! This is the fourth week of our seven week series where we will address each of the negative aspects which lead you down the path of the ROUTINE.
The fourth step to breaking out of your ROUTINE is to change up those familiar patterns in your life. Each week we’ll take on another level of helping you bust out of your ROUTINE.

Change scares the hell out of most people, it frightens them to death! Fear of the unknown and the lack of a guarantee is terrifying. So most people stay in their comfort zone – it’s easier that way. The problem is you’re limiting your growth and your true potential will never be discovered.
8 Pointers In Changing Your ROUTINE up:
- Sometimes it’s not just your job that needs changing, it might be your profession that needs changing. Evaluate your current position by doing a SWOT analysis. Review the analysis and act on the areas that need improvement or that might require a new direction.
- Your surroundings surprisingly play a significant role in your attitude. Don’t underestimate what a quick facelift will do for your business environment. Change the paint colors, hang new art on the walls, the furnishings may need updating. It’s about creating an environment that will inspire you to do your best work.
- Managing expectations is always a factor. Never promise anymore than you can deliver! There is likely to be resistance when people lose faith in the end result because it misses the mark. Please remember this one key point if you remember nothing else: the credibility is in your word. No matter the outcome never give your word up to a losing proposition.
- People in the organization must have buy-in or your project is doomed. Get people onboard by sharing the early ideas and the journey forward. What is the end goal? Make it clear so everyone can buy-in.
- Communication is vital and also one of the most significant reasons that failure sets in. Do not rely solely on email. Verbal conversation and face-to-face meetings when possible will create effective communication.
- Do the rewards match the risk? It’s very difficult to get people excited and to commit when they’re convinced that you’re on the side of a losing proposition. Change for change sake is never good change!
- It’s imperative to get everyone on board. This can only be done by building enthusiasm and creating winning teams.
- When we talk about comfort zones we’re really referring to routines. So there’s bound to be resistance whenever life requires us to change things up! The only way to avoid comfort zones is to never have created them in the first place.
